Best Friend

In the middle east, they say Filipinos and Indians have rivalry in all aspect. When it comes to work, they always clash because they like to overpower each others.

This Indian guy named Sandeep Rayal and I changed their thought. When we met in saudi arabia as both chef. We changed everything that they thought about rivalry. He is in-charge of the hot section and I was in cold section. Because both Indians and Filipinos has this mentality of rivalry, we became friends, eventually as best of friends and colleague. Until we both go back to our native land. Despite of the fact that he lived in India and I in the Philippines, we never cut our communication, from time to time we say "hi"and "hello" to each other.

Until I got an offer to Qatar to work as Chef De Partie... After 5 months, we are in need of the same position as mine. My Mexican Executive Chef approached me if I have somebody that will fit for the job. Without a second thought, I recommended my Indian friend to him... Because my EC trusted me, he asked me to tell my friend to send his passport and the company will process everything. I ask my EC, do you want to have a skype interview first? he replied "I trust you, no need for an interview."

The moment he told me that, I send an email to my friend and told him he was hired. Then he arrived in Doha and we bacame colleague again for the second time... Most Indian staff are amazed of our friendship and I gained their respect for giving them an Indian CDP.

A true friendship regardless of nationalities and race. We broke the rivalry between Indians and Filipinos in the middle east and we both wish that one by one, they will do the same to remove the competition between two nation abroad.
